Friends, family members and Islamic clerics gathered for the eight day fidau prayer of late Jide Tinubu, son of the national leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
With a heavy heart, long faces and rosary in their hands, those who came to pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased were mostly dressed in attires of mourning, black.
Banners took over one side of the several canopies arranged for sitting, as the different messages printed on them were meant to honour the deceased.
Notably present at the event which took place at Sunday Adigun Street, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, was the Iya Oloja of Lagos, Sade Tinubu.
Dressed in an Ankara dress and a flat soul footwear, Sade wore the look of a woman who had indeed lost a loved one.
Also present at the fidau prayer were members of the Lagos state executive council led by the chief of staff to the executive Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, members of the national assembly, members of the Lagos state house of assembly, chairmen of local government in Lagos state, members of local government legislative councils in Lagos state, and political associates.
At he end of the prayers, there was no doubt that a man of influence had indeed gone to his final resting place. Recall that the younger Tinubu died of cardiac arrest.
