The popular Tejuosho Market in Lagos State is currently up in flames.
Unconfirmed reports have it that the fire broke out on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, inside a Military Barrack in Yaba, close to the market and the Yaba train terminal.
Though how the fire started remains unknown, some shops at the market located at Yaba were said to be on fire.
As at the time of filing this report, fire service officials had not arrived the scene.
It will be recalled that a similar fire at Cityways Shopping Complex left good worth over 500 millions Naira damaged several years ago.
Then, the market and adjourning kiosks built by the Yaba Local Council for the traders were completely razed by the early morning inferno.
Traders who suffered loses in the fire, pointed accusing fingers at the government, stating that the fact that the newly built Tejuosho Ultra Modern Market it built had not been fully occupied by the traders due to high cost made them sabotage the mainstream market.
The fire was “a ploy by the government to compel the traders to buy or rent the shops at a very expensive rate,” Guardian quoted an annonimous trader as saying.
