The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has stated that there is no evidence to support the grave accusations leveled against its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

IPOB stated this in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful and shared on X by Kanunta Kanu.

In the statement, the proscribed group noted that during the trial at the Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Omotosho on Tuesday, the prosecutor provided four boxes of evidence to justify the prolonged trial of Kanu.

According to IPOB, the items contained in the boxes included Kanu’s personal belongings such as wristwatches, a microphone, a DJ mixer which it claimed was falsely labeled a transmitter, cables, Arabian perfumes a brown shoe, laptops, chargers, and phones.

The group noted that no bombs, guns, grenades, or attack plans were found because none existed.

IPOB stated that the items presented in court were not weapons of terrorism but ordinary possessions of a man who has consistently and openly declared his mission as a freedom fighter dedicated to the liberation of his people through peaceful means, including a referendum.

The group described as baseless the charges against Kanu, even as it called on the Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Kingdom to end the trial.

IPOB commented that the persecution of Kanu and IPOB has led to the loss of countless lives, including his parents, adding that it must cease, noting that the absence of any incriminating evidence today underscored what it had always maintained that Kanu is not a terrorist, but a noble advocate for the oppressed.

The group urged all stakeholders to recognize this truth and work toward a just resolution.
