In a post shared on his X handle, Gbadebo shared a video of a canal in Lekki Phase 1 covered with weeds and asked if it is the responsibility of the citizens to clear the canal for easy flow of rainwater or the government.

‘’Here is a Canal in Lekki overgrown with weeds that disrupts the free flow of water. As i always say, It is far easier to clear canals than it is to demolish buildings,” he wrote.

In response to GRV’s question, Wahab who appeared unsettled  wrote;

‘’Eventually, you will be fine.”

It would be recalled that the Lagos State government had urged residents to remain calm after nine hours of relentless rainfall that led to significant flash flooding across the city.

During the downpour, Wahab assured the public of immediate actions being taken to mitigate the effects.

He said that the heavy rainfall, which had begun in the early hours of Wednesday caused a substantial rise in the level of the Lagos lagoon, leading to flash floods across Lagos including Iyana Oworo, which connects to the Third Mainland Bridge.
