Portable and Saheed Osupa The Octopus News

An insider in Saheed Osupa’s management team has revealed exclusively to www.theoctopusnews.com that they had no intention of intimidating controversial singer Portable when they got him arrested.

In an exclusive interview with www.theoctopusnews.com, the insider, who gave his name simply as Kunle Abija (not real name), revealed that the sole purpose of the action was to protect the King of Fuji music.

According to him, the move became necessary after Portable published a video in which he told the public to hold Saheed Osupa responsible if anything happened to him.

He noted that the situation that saw the death of the late musician Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, being linked to Naira Marley was a clear example of why they needed to incident the situation, as anything could suddenly happen to Portable, and the Fuji musician would be held responsible.

“Portable shared a video in which he told the public to hold Saheed Osupa responsible if anything happened to him. It was based on this that we, his management, decided to look at the issue from a legal perspective.

“We incidented the issue with the Nigeria Police, and he was invited, but he refused to honour the invitation. He was subsequently picked up from his house on Saturday, and the police charged him in court on Monday.

“The importance of what we have done is that God forbid should anything happen to Portable, Saheed Osupa would be absolved of any responsibility as he has documented what transpired between him and Portable with the police and the whole world now knows what happened. Portable is a very controversial person who has had issues with several people, and this move is indeed very important to protect our talent,” Abija said.

Portable is currently being remanded at the Oke Kura Correctional Centre, Ilorin, Kwara State, after he failed to meet his bail condition in the suit bordering on charges including criminal defamation, intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking.

An Upper Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State granted the Zazu singer bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. The court noted that one of the sureties must be the Chairman or Secretary of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), while the other must possess a landed property within a Government Reserved Area, backed by a valid Certificate of Occupancy.
