People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members in the Imo state House of Assembly have stated that they will work in harmony with the newly sworn-in governor of the state, Hope Uzodinma.

The lawmakers described Uzodinma’s victory at the Supreme Court as victory to the people of Imo State.

Reaction to the fact that there were only two members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) out of the 27 members of the House of Assembly, the speaker of the House, Chiji Collins said he does not think the state legislature populated by the PDP will have any problem with the new administration, adding that the lawmakers in House house were Imolites who were not in the house to fight, but the serve the Imo people.

Collins said: “The members of the House of Assembly are all Imolites and we represent Imo people. So we have not come to fight anybody.”

“We are sons of daughters of Imo and we are representing them and so anything we will do will be in their best interest.”

Also speaking, the state lawmaker representing Ikeduru constituency, Uche Ogbuagu, said he was delighted about Uzodinma’s emergence as governor of Imo State, adding that the new administration might use the opportunity to right all the wrongs of the Emeka Ihedioha’s led administration.

“Apart from this, we all have one thing in common and this is the good and progress of all Imolites. Anybody God has chosen to be the governor of Imo state, I cannot fight that person. I am a product of providence and destiny and so I don’t fight destinies,” Ogbuagu said.

Ogbuagu further noted that every action which will be taken by lawmakers in the House will be dependant on the party’s leadership in Imo state.
