Death is inevitable. It comes at will and takes whoever pleases it.
One man who recently realised this is the Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
This reality dawned on Amaechi when he lost his elder brother, Sir (Oha) Charles I. Amaechi (JP).
Fondly called ‘Dede’, the deceased lived a good life worthy of emulation and impacted meaningfully in his community. His life story was full of positive happenings that even at his interment and Thanksgiving Service, which took place in Ubima town, Rivers State there was no denying how honourable he was.
Present at the event were the minister himself, his wife Dame Judith Amaechi, Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong, Minister of State, Transportation, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki, Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylver, Former Rivers Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia, Chief Victor Giadom, former Acting National Chairman of APC, Sen. Akpan Udoedehe, Dr. Alex Otti, former Abia State Governorship Candidate of APGA, Prof Stephen Okodudu, and Hon. Asita Honourable Asita, Chairman NIMASA Board.
Also present at the event were Hon. Dr. Dakuku Peterside, Former Director-General, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA). Eulogising his deceased brother, Amaechi said: “He has left us with a huge responsibility that I never imagined would be so soon to confront and a challenge that I lack the capacity to discharge. Chikamkpa, Lemchi, Obinna, Judith, and I will find it difficult to come to terms with his death. We can only pray that Dede rests in the bosom of the Lord”
