In the wake of Ibe Kachikwu’s appointment as Minster of Petroleum and Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), many had forecast a mega business opportunity for his younger brother, Dumebi.
Then, known to be into all sorts of businesses, friends and associates of Dumebi had already started anticipating his windfall in the Oil and Gas industry.
So glaring was Dumebi’s windfall that a lot of people seeking one favour or the other from his brother had already started courting him.
However, the arrival of Baru Maikanti as the new GMD of NNPC changed the fortunes of Dumebi, as the position of his elder brother under whose watch he had expected to ride to brighter glory became almost that of a figure head.
Almost all of the decisions made by Kachikwu were reversed by Maikanti and it soon became clear that it wasn’t going to be a jolly ride for both brothers.
Presently, the talk in town is that Dumebi is no longer as financially vibrant as he used to be, hence his seeming disappearance from public glare. Some of his friends who used to predict his movement have hardly seen him in recent times and this has led many pondering on his whereabouts.
