Award-winning Nigerian singer, Ayodeji Balogun, popular as Wizkid has released the artwork for his forthcoming album, “Morayo”.
The artwork with a cropped-up picture of the hitmaker’s late mother also features a parental control tag.
“Morayo” meaning ‘I See Joy’ in Yoruba, the singer’s native dialect has been described as an emotional and personal body of work by Wizkid. It is dedicated to the singer’s late mother, Jane Morayo Balogun, who died in 2023 at the age of 66.
In uncovering the artwork, Wizkid also announced Friday, November 22 as the release date. The work would be released by Starboy/Sony Music International/RCA Records.
Recall that in June the Afrobeats superstar disclosed that the album is a homage to his mother, saying: “My album ‘Morayo’, dedicated to my mom, the love of my life, drops very soon. Don’t dull. Don’t sleep.”
The project is expected to depict Wizkid’s emotional journey after the passing of his mother. Already, fans are stirring up the internet with various talking points about what the body of work would look like when it drops.
