The Managing Director of Zenith Bank Godwin Emefiele has been picked by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to replace Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the new Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Sanusi was removed just a few months to the end of his tenure. His tenure was supposed to end in June 2014. Sanusi said he will challenge the decision to suspend him but will not go back to the job
According to a statement released Bayo Adelabu, the current Executive Director at First Bank will now be the Deputy Governor of CBN, replacing Tunde Lemo.
Emefiele’s name has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation.
