The management of Zenith Bank Plc has refuted in totality the claim that it funded the 2014 election of Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti.

The claim was made by the Governor who many consider a cry baby.

A source in the bank, described the allegations of Governor Fayose as laughable and absurd.

According to him, Fayose is a drowning man holding on to a straw and looking for people to go down with him.

The source described Fayose as a pathological liar who refused to state the true state of affairs between him and Zenith Bank.

According to him, “Fayose’s grouse with Zenith bank was the fact that the bank heeded the instruction of the EFCC to freeze Fayose’s account while investigation is ongoing.”

” How much is the monthly IGR of Ekiti compared to other States like Lagos, Rivers and other A1 list states of the Federation that Zenith Bank will decide to fund his campaign as alleged?”
The truth is that Fayose actually wanted Zenith bank to conceal the money he got from the office of the former NSA Sambo Dasuki which he lodged with the bank, but the bank declined.

“When we realized the discrepancy on his account, we fully cooperated with the graft agency for the good of Nigeria,” he added.

“We have been in operation for decades and have maintained a high standard in all our financial dealings according to laid down procedures and ethics guiding the industry.

We have handed all the necessary documents about Fayose and his transactions to the EFCC and this got him really upset.

Governor Fayose should leave Zenith Bank out of his problems, rather he should go and clear his name with EFCC rather than looking for those to go down with him.

Reactions since Gov. Fayose made the statement has been commendable, as shareholder reaffirm confidence in the banks’s management.
